I once read a woman say, “No one has the right sexualize my body in this image; it’s not intended to be sexual.” And I felt every bit of what she wrote, even though I personally disagreed with the picture.
“No one has the right sexualize my body in this image; it’s not intended to be sexual.”
She wasn’t a Christian, so a little different, but when did we start to make beauty sexual? Christian culture makes pretty girls feel guilty for the body GOD GAVE them.
When I read 1 Peter 3, this is speaking directly to wives. Let’s remember, the highest goal of a Christian woman is not marriage, but CHRIST. When I read 1 Timothy 2, the outward adornment seems to be value coming from what was associated with wealth.
Those tricky gray areas again! Am I saying wear whatever you want, whenever you want because you want. No! But I am saying stop shaming women whose full intent is not immodesty. Romans 12 says to not conform to this world, but Galatians cautions to not go back under a yoke of slavery through the law of striving and effort for our own holiness as if we don’t have the Holy Spirit.
I don’t have the answer, but I do have the Holy Spirit. He is the one who will speak and convict.
And don’t give me the bull of guys lust and struggles! Another lump of shame for women who struggle with porn and masturbation because Christian culture says this is a guy’s struggle and they don’t place the same burden of lust on men as they do women.
It’s okay to workout with your shirt off because it’s hot, but a woman can’t workout with a bra because it’s hot? Is that really modesty or just the fact that without a bra, we’d go through some major pain?!
Look, David was a man after God’s own heart. There are women after God’s own heart, too. While I’m probably more modest than a good bit, how do you determine it? To others, I may be more immodest than the next. If our scales are constantly changing determining modestly, what’s the standard?
The standard is only on the Word. I’m not talking about ladies in the world, I’m talking about Christian women. There’s not a piece by piece layout of Godly attire. There is the Holy Spirit.
There’s not a piece by piece layout of Godly attire. There is the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes it’s lack of maturity. Sometimes it’s really impure motives. And sometimes Holy Spirit just doesn’t convict another individual the same. Or shall I say convict someone the way Christian cultures have brainwashed people to believe. In one church my modesty is an offense to another. In another, it’s too prudent.
Please stop determining varying degrees of modesty based on your physical preference, beauty (or lack of beauty 👀—yes, cause some of y’all have NOO issue with a woman you don’t find attractive wearing the same thing as another you do) or biased teachings.
Is she seeking Christ? Is she adorned in strength and dignity? Does her apparel give her worth or does it come from Christ? Are her actions with what she wears impure? Is the plank out of your eye enabling you to speak to her? Are you testing what you’ve been taught? (oh, and all these statements apply to males in the masculine verbiage).
Until Heaven or Sooner,
P.S. Adam and Eve were NAKED before the fall. You think we will in the redeemed/New Heaven and Earth 🤔😂
